What is myotherapy?
Myotherapy is the evidence informed assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of pain and dysfunction in the muscles, joints and soft tissues of the body.

More than a massage
Where a relaxation massage aims to help you unwind, myotherapy is a clinical treatment. Your myotherapist is trained to identify why the pain is there, what is contributing to it, and how to build a plan that actually resolves it.
That might include hands on soft tissue treatment, dry needling, cupping, joint mobilisation, taping, stretching and specific exercises. The technique is chosen to match what your body needs, not the other way around.
How a myotherapist works
Every visit starts with listening. Your myotherapist wants to understand what you are dealing with, what activities matter to you, what has helped in the past and what has not. From there they use physical assessment, movement testing and orthopaedic tests to work out what is driving the pain.
Treatment is then focused on that specific cause. You will get a clear explanation of what is happening and what to expect from your recovery, along with practical things you can do at home.

What to expect from your first appointment
Before your visit
You can send us an enquiry through the form at the bottom of the page or call the clinic directly. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. If you have a WorkSafe claim, bring your medical referral. Private health cards can be tapped on the spot through HICAPS at the end of your visit.
During your consultation
Your myotherapist will take a full history, assess your posture and movement, and identify the structures involved. Treatment is hands on and targeted, with clear feedback so you understand what is being worked on and why.
After treatment and ongoing management
You will leave with a written plan of what to do between sessions. That usually includes a few simple exercises, stretches or self release techniques, and clear advice on load, activity and posture. Ongoing appointments are spaced to match how your body responds, with the goal of you needing us less over time, not more.
